Supplemental essays come in a variety of different forms and can develop from a variety of different questions. Although they are not the primary written samples in your application, it's essential that all supplemental essays are thoroughly edited and reviewed to ensure that they add to the overall quality of your admissions folder.

Some of the most common supplemental essay types are:

• A school-specific topic given in addition to your personal statement
• The “Why Do You Want To Attend XYZ Law School?” essay
• The “Diversity Essay”
• An open-ended applicant-selected topic given in addition to your personal statement

Each of these has to be treated with as much diligence as the personal statement, since they all become part of your application. Additional time is needed and dedicated to these essays to ensure that they add to the overall quality of the application and maximize its potential.
